Love is love is love is love.

I believe we “fall in love” many times in our lives. At least, we certainly have the potential. Each time, somewhat different from the last.

Can you compare your childhood love to your most recent? Likely not. Yet, is it not all relative? Perhaps you did not have the same capacity to love then, as you do now? It was different. But was it not, still love?

I remember experiencing the universal truth that goes something along the lines of: the more we come to know a person's heart, the more beautiful their outward appearance becomes. Beautiful from the inside out, as they say.

And isn't that the most wonderful gift? That we have the ability to 𝒔𝒆𝒆, to 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 another's energy and soul, past what the physical eyes can see.

I remember this love, way back, when I was in my last year of high school. This boy was unlike any other I had feelings for before. He did not fit my stereotypical "type", not did he fit the approval of society. Black and white simply did not mix. But I remember this revelation; it embraced me like a cotton candy cloud.

"Oh, this is what they mean when they say we love someone for their inside and not their outside."

I loved that my heart could open to that. And even though nothing much developed from this love, and, as I touched on earlier, love would probably be a strong verb to use here. It shifted my understanding of love in the gentlest of ways. And I have never forgotten the peace of this truth.

Most lovers claim that love is a choice we make. Yet in the same breath, it can be said that 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒖𝒔.

True love does not care for outward appearance: what colour your skin is, how toned your abs might be or if your front tooth leans to the left. Yes, these aesthetics may play their part,

but the soul does not see

gender or colour,

age or size.

𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒔 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆.

After all…

Love is love

is love,

is love.
